Dan Guttman, Chair of the Toronto Network for Human Rights Watch, will be the featured speaker at the free screening and information night at Ryerson University, Thursday October 29 at 7 PM. Dan will talk about the Toronto Network and its legal work in support of Human Rights Watch’s intervention in cases before the Supreme Court of Canada prior to the showing of the film, The Dictator Hunter.
Dan has been involved with the Toronto Network since 2005. He became involved with Human Rights Watch because of his interest in international human rights and admiration for the work done and results accomplished by Human Rights Watch researchers. He practices constitutional and criminal law, and teaches at Osgoode Law School and the University of Windsor Law School. He completed his LLM in International Law at the University of New South Wales in 2007.
Human Rights Watch formed the Toronto Network in the spring of 2003. The group’s purpose is to increase awareness of human rights issues, support the advocacy work of Human Rights Watch in Canada, and to engage people in the human rights movement.

An update on the case of Hissène Habré, former leader of Chad, will follow the screening of The Dictator Hunter.
Both screening and information session take place in Room ENG 103, Engineering Building, Ryerson University, 261-299 Church Street, Toronto. The screening is open to all students, faculty and guests. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis.
